Work on the state's controversial plan to sell 11 state properties and then lease them back has delayed final approval of the sale of the now-closed Fred C. Nelles Youth Correctional Facilities.

The Fashion Island shopping center in Newport Beach recently announced that it has landed another Orange County exclusive tenant, which is slated to open late next spring.
According to Fashion Island, which is owned by the Irvine Co., the soon-to-open tenant was hailed by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the 100 best new ideas of 2010.

Newport Beach and Laguna Beach ranked among the top 10 cities in the state with the highest median home prices for the month of November, according to the latest statistics compiled by the California Association of Realtors.

A new Newport Beach Harbor Commission subcommittee will spend the next two months examining the feasibility of bringing two “mooring support service centers” to Newport Harbor. The facilities would offer a wide range of amenities for boaters who use moorings, possibly including a slip to use for washing or servicing a vessel, a dinghy rack, power hookups for charging batteries and restrooms.

The latest Orange County Great Park plans are to keep the runways and hangars at former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro in place to “dramatically reduce costs and speed up the building of Irvine’s Great Park,” according to a news report from the Orange County Weekly.
