The national foreclosure rate is moderating
with the number of foreclosures in February rising 6 percent compared
to February 2009, the lowest year-over-year increase in four years.
Foreclosure filings, including default
notices, scheduled auctions, and bank repossessions, were reported on
308,524 U.S. properties during February, a 2 percent decrease compared
to January, RealtyTrac also reports.

the Internal Revenue Service issued new guidance Feb. 12 on the two tax
credit programs that are powering the country's real estate markets --
the $6,500 credit for repeat buyers and the $8,000 first-time buyer
credit.
