After a great day at the beach on the 4th, we're looking forward to a BBQ and fireworks nearby. Maybe we'll see you there.
Fireworks Show at Newport Dunes

I have memories of laying on my back within 10 feet of the launcher. In retrospect, it may have been a bit too close. How do I know? Not only did the rumble go through my whole body but I ended up with my share of ashes and embers falling on my blanket. Now that I have children and a wife who isn't keen on risking their safety, we keep our distance and still have a great time.
Fireworks & Parade Cruises
July 4, 2010
Every year, The American Legion Newport Harbor Post 291 celebrates the 4th of July with the July 4 Independence Day Boat Parade. The event fills the harbor with of boats adorned in red-white-&-blue celebrating the time-honored Old Glory Boat Parade. Then be treated to the largest fireworks display in Southern California at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort.
Newport Landing offers several cruises on July 4 that witness the parade during the afternoon and celebrate the amazing fireworks display in the bay. Cruises are 2 ½ hours in the length.
For additional information or to make reservations call 949-675-0551
Since I was a kid we've either been in the parade or gone to watch it. It's a fun tradition and not nearly as cold as the Parade of Lights in December. Enjoy the weather, watch it with a supply of waffle cones from the island and sit down on your blanket. Be sure to have your own lighted things to wave at the boats. The appreciate your enthusiasm, too.
